The Story We Tell Here

Why Radio City Music Hall Matters

When Radio City opened in 1932 it was the largest indoor theater in the world, and it still takes your breath away: a sunburst proscenium arch 60 feet high, designed to make every audience member feel the curtain rising on them.

Our guides bring the Rockette legends and golden-age stories to life from the sidewalk — the secret apartment hidden inside the theater, the hydraulic stage so advanced the Navy studied it during WWII, and why this block became the beating heart of American entertainment.

This is stop 04 of five on our free Midtown walking tour — about two hours, 1.5 easy miles, and completely free. You pay whatever you feel the experience was worth at the end.
