🚉 1. It’s Not a “Station”
Although many people call it Grand Central Station, the correct name is Grand Central Terminal—because it’s the final stop for trains on the Metro-North Railroad. The name “Grand Central Station” actually refers to the nearby post office and a former rail station.

🕵️ 3. There’s a Hidden Platform (Track 61)
There’s a secret train platform (Track 61) beneath the Waldorf Astoria Hotel. It was once used by President Franklin D. Roosevelt to discreetly enter the hotel via armored train, avoiding public view because of his polio.
⏱️ 4. The Clock Is Worth Millions
The four-faced opal clock atop the information booth in the Main Concourse is said to be worth $10–20 million.
🛍️ 5. It Has One of NYC’s Best Food Markets
The Grand Central Market features a European-style food hall filled with gourmet ingredients, fresh seafood, cheeses, meats, and pastries—a hidden culinary gem in the middle of Midtown.
🧠 6. Saved by Jackie Kennedy
In the 1960s, Grand Central was at risk of demolition. Former First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis became a fierce advocate for its preservation, leading the movement that saved this historic landmark for future generations.

Grand Central has appeared in over 100 films and TV shows, including:
